The patent office in Japan is following in the footsteps of the U.S. Patent Office.

Japan will speed up patent examination by increasing the number of examiners,
promoting outsourcing and urging industry to be more selective in filing
application cases, the Japan Patent Office said Thursday.

The USPTO announced earlier that international applications will be headed to commercial firms and the Australian Patent Office. Recently, the Patent Office announced that the outsourcing will also be headed to Korean. As I blogged earlier, this is a disturbing trend that is now a part of the USPTO.
